About the Role
As a Founding Machine Learning Engineer, you will play a crucial role in developing methods for building reliable and engaging patient-facing experiences. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of building and deploying impactful machine learning tools, with a strong foundation in machine learning and extensive experience in natural language processing. This role requires exceptional software engineering skills, a passion for machine learning research, and a deep commitment to building reliable systems for high-stakes, real-world applications.
As part of an early-stage startup, you will work closely with a close-knit team of ML researchers and engineers, collaborating across different disciplines. Reporting directly to the Chief Scientist, you will also liaise regularly with the broader team. The central goal is to align efforts towards the mission of delivering continuous supportive care to patients.
What You'll Do
Build and maintain a platform for continuous patient engagement, including managing backbone infrastructure for user engagement and conversation.
Develop and manage models for domain-specific applications and conversational nuances.
Iterate and maintain frameworks for gathering consistent user feedback.
Create tools for evaluating and monitoring the performance of deployed real-world experiments.
Implement and scale training and inference engineering frameworks.
Develop a deep understanding of user needs through direct user feedback and clinical research.
Report and present developments to leadership and other team members.
Collaborate with team members to meet ongoing goals.
Prepare monthly talks on relevant machine learning research and advances.
Attend machine learning and clinical conferences at the team's favorite venues.
What You'll Bring
A bachelor's, master's, or higher degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
7+ years of industry experience in relevant roles.
Proven track record in software engineering, particularly in building, maintaining, and deploying ML-based applications.
Expertise in machine learning, with extensive experience in natural language processing
Familiarity with evaluating and deploying machine learning models.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, and machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and HuggingFace.
Deep interest in building safe and reliable AI tools for real-world applications.
Preferred but not Required
Experience collaborating and working with researchers in an interdisciplinary setting.
Experience working with real-world datasets.
Previous experience in a healthcare setting or at an early-stage startup.
