We are looking for a Machine Learning Engineer to join a biotechnology company that specializes in predicting stem cell differentiation through live cell microscopy and artificial intelligence. This company aims to optimize human tissue manufacturing for research and therapeutic applications, with a mission to address critical health issues, create a positive societal impact, and drive global change.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Collaborating with the Machine Learning team to develop, integrate, test, and scale computer vision models for cell fate prediction.

  • Transitioning machine learning models into production, working closely with the Engineering team to deploy them effectively.

  • Building software tools for the Biology team to capture, store, and analyze microscopy data, as wells as supporting the Machine Learning team in developing, integrating, testing, and scaling ML features for production.

  • Play a crucial role in the AI/ML team, contributing to the development and implementation of ML models for computer vision.

  • Defining and constructing internal training, testing, and serving infrastructure, as part of a collaborative effort with the Engineering and Biology teams.

  • Selecting the most suitable ML frameworks, such as PyTorch and Detectron, and ensuring the seamless integration of ML models into production.

  • Creating internal applications and data products for the Biology team, focusing on scalable and reproducible workflows for storing, visualizing, and analyzing high-resolution microscopy data.

What the Company is Looking For

  • Minimum of 2 to 3+ years of experience as a Machine Learning Engineer in a real-world data environment.

  • Strong understanding of ML models for computer vision

  • Proficient in modern ML frameworks for deploying these models into production.

  • Experience working in a multi-functional team

  • Proficiency in Python programming and familiarity with ML frameworks like PyTorch are required.

  • Expertise in cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, continuous integration systems, and unit testing is highly valued.

Desirable but not Required

  • Experience in a biotechnology company or a background in biology would be advantageous.

  • Experience working with data at scale and a willingness to engage with relevant scientific publications.

  • Previous involvement in AI-first software products, data platforms, and machine learning infrastructure tools, particularly in the context of biotechnology.
